Smart.
Thats what I do when a preview is out, although I do not do chest runs (my luck stings with chests) but I farm and get lots of gold and good drops.

Or you can farm greens, rares AND gold at the same time

I was amazed how many people I say in towns whining about not getting greens. Every single time without exception, when I looked, they were standing there with a full squad of henchies. It might be TRIPLE DROP weekend, but the odds of YOU getting an item in an 8 person team is still 1 in 8.

Anyway, my numbers:
4 sskai swords in 10 kills (solo)
2 ghials staffs in 4 kills (duo w/ friend)
2 nundak bows in 7 kills (duo + 2 henchies by neccesity)
1 tarnaen shield in 3 kills (duo)
1 aahrash shield in 2 kills (duo)
1 reefclaw in 3 kills (solo)
1 brightclaw in 3 kills (duo)
1 strongroot in 4 kills (solo)
1 wing's ax in 1 kill (duo)
1 byzzr's benediction in 6 kills (solo)
0 geofer shields in 3 kills (solo)
0 kaolin wands in 1 kill (solo)
0 jacquis' aegis in 1 kill (duo)
0 rot's greens in 7 kills (duo + 2 henchies by neccesity)

Not everyone plays just to get piles of cash.

Me, I wanted to get some weapons I didn't have to pay someone for, and get some stuff for other people.

I did the tally last night; 10 greens. Considering I still drummed and went to the gym and lived a more or less normal life, I think that's pretty good.

The event brought out the best and worst in people; there were a lot of people working together to make sure everyone got what they wanted. There were also people bragging that they let the team wipe and waited to take the item after the hold on it disappeared.

Overall, I was extremely happy with this event, and it really got me excited to play. Thanks ANet!

It felt like the drop rate was 30X. I had a great time stocking up greens for my heros and casters. Koss will be happy.
I had my eyes set on getting a few particular greens and got more than i needed.
5x Rajazan's Fervor...had to upgraded caster totem axes..
7x Merki's Gaze...left more on the ground...had a hard time giving these away
4x Sunreach's Shield
3x Falham's Daggers...started leaving these on the ground.
4x Ghial's Staff
2x Stonereaper
2x Janyes
4x Kaolin accursed
5x Kaolin prot
3x Ssyn staff
1x Spiritgarden Repose
1X Woespreader
1x Scar Eater
1x greenbow just outside Cavalon
1x Ironclaw....traded from a guildie for a Rajazan.

edit: I guess I could have bought all of these, but the thrill of the hunt and actually seeing the item drop for you is priceless. I did share my luck with guildies and friends.

QFT.

My experience was the same and I did the same as well (aside from the gym and drumming, lol). I helped 8 people getting the greens they wanted and yes, if it dropped for me I gave it to them no matter what the items value is/was.

I got all the greens I wanted for myself and for my future heroes as well and had a great time playing with friends and devising tactics to take the various bosses down.

We loved it, thanks Anet from me and my wife

I was really dissapointed with this weekend, i farmed like 6 or so bosses solo about 30 times each got 2 greens total, and i did the math on one boss and i would have had to have farmed him 500 times with normal drops in a group of 8 to get the one green. i cant express how much time i wasted this weekend for next to nothing. please, if your have a "special"weekend event for people, make sure they acually get something from it, not another dissapointment from anet, like i have been so acustomed to. So yeah my drops were WORSE because of the weekend, i blame retarded programmers or retarded programmers, or probably both, thanks for jack shit, i almost thought for a second i would get a decent drop for ONCE guess i iwas wrong,

Try to join one of these when you arent the right class and you get bitched at. Or you could stand in an outpost for an hour and a half (which I did) finally get in a group, have someone "More Important" join and tell the leader to kick you out, which they did...

Thanks Anet for making it impossible for anyone forced to use henches to get anything at all.

Wonderful idea, screw us over more. Love it. What's next? "Mesmers cant wear armor" weekend.
In this case u either 1. go with a guild group and alter a farming group to include these classes or 2. solo it...alot of these ppl who have gotten 4 or 5 copies of each green must have soloed or gone with guildy's cuz pugs leave if one of em doesnt get the green on the first run.(quote me on that if u choose)
plz dont say u cant solo b/c everything can solo u just gotta buy the right skills and have the right proffesion combo.

I went out with hehchies and got Ssun's Staff. That is the only green i gotten since i didn't feel like going around Cantha looking for bosses. But i have to say this event were fun to played. Now, its time to sit back and watch the greens prices to drop.

I didn't get crap, my wife didn't get crap, and at last check my guildies didn't get crap.

At this point, I feel I was lied to about drop rates. Honestly. I have gotten 1 green as long as I have played Guild Wars, and bought/traded for the rest. Something is wrong when I can spend days farming, and it drops for everyone but me. 4-5 hours straight, with time played elsewhere to reset the code, and I still get jack.

I've considered buying another account just so I can get a better seed. It's that bad.

I got 7 greens to drop for me Friday afternoon. The trick I used: do a mission before you started farming (hence get rid of the "anti farm code") and all your drops are worthwhile. I got sskai's sword twice in a row, and on one of those runs I killed geoffer and got his shield.

Moral of the story: If you're drops suck, do a mission!

I don't farm, unless running around maping and killing whatever gets in your way is farming.. Once I get an area mapped it's a while before I go back, unless a guildie needs help someplace I've just been.

Until this weekend I have never respawned an area ad nauseam and I didn't get a single green. However the ranger construct that drops the Kayolin (sp?) longbow did drop me a white hammer

I didn't do much, I just solo farmed Geoffer's Bulwark for a bit and got 7 shields for about 45 minutes of work. I had to split it up and do half in the morning and half in the evening, as I got the anti-farming code warning. The shields are for my heroes in Nightfall.

The results of this weekend should prove that the randomization algorithms used aren't very random.

That, and anybody wanna give me some greens?

Well someone must have been reaping the 3x drop rewards because I spent about 60k on 1/3 priced greens in prep for Nightfall.

I solo'd everything with my necro

2x Sskais sword-4 tries
3x Chehbabas Longbow-10 tries -_-
2x Spiriteaters-10 times
0x Hukhrahs-10 times
2x Ssyns staff-7 tries
0x Siskas Staff-6 times
4x Nundaks Bows-6 tries
1x Rots Putrescence-5 times

I got very little greens at all, I was either very unlucky, or because I farmed the underfarmed bosses, maybe ANET just put it on the normally farmed bosses, not my underfarmed ones (not many go for the 3 yetis, or mez in the middle of nowhere surrounded by 50 monsters)

Chest Farmed a bit and made 200k

I find soloing funner than chest running

I had limited time of play though, 6 hours of playing, I kill those bosses fast

I got a Geoffer's Bulwark, Wing's Axe, Ssaresh's Daggers (killed him while going for Seacrash, who never did drop his wand btw), and the Windcatcher, and all of it with three henchies. I also bought a Reefclaw's Refuge because Reefclaw was being a jerk and wouldn't drop it.
